Liverpool’s defensive depth is drawing interest from abroad, with one of their emerging centre-backs catching attention in Germany.
Bayer Leverkusen have shown concrete interest in signing Liverpool centre-back Jarell Quansah, according to reports from Kicker and journalist @NocksVon.
The 2023–24 Bundesliga champions are preparing for life without Jonathan Tah, who is set to join Bayern Munich, and view Quansah as a serious candidate to fill the gap.
Despite playing a backup role at Anfield, young England international Quansah has drawn widespread praise for his composure, physicality, and maturity.
His development over the past season hasn’t gone unnoticed across Europe, and Leverkusen see him as a long-term fit in a defensive setup.
Quansah wouldn’t come cheap.
While talk of a €45 million price tag may be on the high side, Liverpool would still expect any serious offer to cross the €30 million mark.
Liverpool rates the 22-year-old highly and are under no pressure to sell.

As it stands, no official bid has been submitted by Leverkusen, but their interest in Quansah is genuine and under active consideration as they weigh up defensive reinforcements.
From Liverpool’s perspective, Quansah is seen as a key part of the club’s future.
He made 25 appearances under Arne Slot during the 2024–25 campaign across all competitions, mostly coming off the bench — and showed he could be trusted in high-pressure situations.
Quansah’s role next season will depend on how the Reds reshape their defence, but Arne Slot is said to value his presence in the squad.
The player himself remains focused on continuing his development at Anfield, though a side like Leverkusen — offering regular minutes and a clear path to first-team football, could present a tempting challenge.
For now, the situation remains open-ended, with Liverpool in no rush to sell and Leverkusen continuing to monitor developments closely.
